Independent Venue Week is one week where all the independently spirited venues come together with artists, promoters and media to celebrate the art of live music. Artists, promoters, labels and media work with each venue to curate, play and promote live music from some of the most exciting new talent in the country.
It was Independent Venue Week this year from Monday 26th January – Sunday 1st February, and one of the venues involved was the Diamond Live Lounge in Doncaster. This is one of the newest live music venues hosting quality bands, supporting the local music scene and providing a premiere lounge.
As part of Independent Venue Week, the Live Lounge hosted three gigs, with the first one being Metal Mayhem night. It was held on 29th January and was a great night of music from artists Anima, Arkiva and Immension.
Finally, the last gig was held on Sunday 1st February and was The Notorious Aarvark Music Showcase, with music from Passion Play, Ginger Tom, Skinner and T’witch, Alistair Pearson, Murder at the Seaside and Groom Lake Fugitives.
I managed to make it down to see two of the three gigs which were on offer at the Diamond Live Lounge. I videoed both of these events which was the second gig, consisting of Counting Coins and The Talks – whom are both excellent Ska bands from the city of Hull. And I also videoed the third and final gig which was the Notorious Aardvark Music Showcase – with all the artists putting on a great performance.
I’d definitely recommend checking out each of the artists that participated in Independent Venue Week 2015 – you never know you might find a new band that you like!
